GRE Exam Syllabus

GRE Exam Formats
The GRE exam comes in two flavours: GRE General Test and GRE Subject Test. Each has its own GRE syllabus.
- GRE General Test: The GRE General Test is the industry standard exam that evaluates students’ verbal reasoning, mathematical reasoning, and analytical writing skills.
- GRE Subject Test: The institution may require a GRE Subject Test for more specialised courses, as the GRE Subject Test focuses on assessing the candidate’s proficiency in specific disciplines.
Syllabus for the GRE Exam
The GRE general test is divided into three sections: GRE verbal reasoning, GRE quantitative reasoning, and GRE analytical writing evaluation.
The GRE is one of the most important entrance requirements for higher education in business, engineering, and a variety of other fields. The GRE general exam score is acceptable in this situation. The GRE general test syllabus is lengthy, and it evaluates students’ analytical abilities.
GRE Analytical Writing Section Syllabus
The GRE analytical writing section is intended to assess the test taker’s ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and effectively, to support ideas with relevant reasons and examples, to examine claims and accompanying evidence, to maintain a well-focused, coherent discussion, and to control the elements of standard written English. The GRE Analytical Writing curriculum consists of two separate thirty-minute analytical writing assignments:

GRE Verbal Reasoning Section Syllabus
The verbal reasoning section assesses the test taker’s ability to analyse and draw conclusions from the discourse, reason from incomplete data, identify the author’s assumptions and/or perspective, select important points, distinguish major from minor or relevant points, summarising text, understanding the structure of a text, understanding the meanings of words, sentences, and entire texts, and understanding relationships between words and concepts.
The GRE verbal syllabus covers the following topics:

GRE Quantitative Reasoning Syllabus
The quantitative reasoning section evaluates the test taker’s ability to comprehend quantitative information, interpret and analyse quantitative data, solve problems using mathematical models, and apply fundamental mathematical skills and concepts from arithmetic, algebra, geometry, probability, and statistics.

Subject Test Syllabus for the GRE
The GRE subject exam is a paper-based exam that is only administered three times per year. GRE topic exams are designed for people who want to pursue a higher degree in a specific subject.

Biology Syllabus for the GRE
The exam contains approximately 190 Biology-related five-choice questions. Among the topics covered are:

Chemistry Syllabus for the GRE
The exam consists of approximately 130 multiple-choice questions about the four domains of chemistry that have traditionally been divided.

Each test version contains approximately 230 questions on poetry, theatre, biography, the essay, short story, novel, criticism, literary theory, and linguistic history.

Syllabus for GRE Psychology
The exam contains approximately 205 multiple-choice questions. Each test question presents five options from which the examinee must select the one that is the correct or best answer to the question.

GRE Exam Format
Even if you are familiar with the GRE Syllabus and know all of the answers, failing to manage time may result in an incomplete exam. This is where knowledge of the GRE Exam pattern comes into play. The most important components of the GRE exam course are Analytical Writing, Verbal Reasoning, and Quantitative Reasoning. The GRE computer-based exam lasts three hours and 45 minutes.
Pattern of the GRE Computer Based Test
Each of these sections is then divided into two sub-sections for the computer-based pattern, resulting in a total of forty questions. The Analytical Writing component of the GRE consists of only two activities, each with a time limit of one hour. Aside from these main sections, the computer-based pattern test has two additional changeable sections. There is a ten-minute break following the completion of the Quantitative Reasoning segment. Unscored and Research, on the other hand, are not included in the final GRE scores.

GRE Paper-Based Examination Pattern
The GRE paper-based test schedule includes two sub-sections for each of the three major categories: analytical writing, verbal reasoning, and quantitative reasoning. Two one-hour projects comprise the analytical Writing section. Each section of Verbal and Quantitative reasoning consists of two sections and 50 questions, with time limits of 60 and 70 minutes, respectively. The variable components Unscored and Research are absent from the paper-based test.
